Northshore School District Maintenance Facility , Bothell, WA
The Northshore School District is a large district that is centered in Bothell, and serves much of the surrounding area between Seattle proper and Everett. The District has outgrown the transportation/maintenance facility and has contracted for its replacement. The new facility has space for over a hundred busses, and the indoor “covered” maintenance area is approximately 41,000 square feet of which 33,000 is shop space. There are a number of specialized mechanical and electrical systems. The mechanical systems include compressed air and grease/oil supply. Floor slab radiant heating provides space temperature control. An underground fuel storage system provides both gasoline and diesel service. This system is equipped with both a leak detection system and a fuel management system. The fuel management system accounts for all of the fuel usage by any vehicle, and can assign costs to different “clients”, such as the City of Bothell. A vehicle wash facility is provided that recycles the water in order to eliminate discharge to sanitary/storm sewers or the surrounding area. Task lighting for the shops and for the exterior fueling/washing spaces is provided.
