As part of the general Sound Transit construction, a "link" in the rail system was provided in downtown Tacoma. This "link" connects the downtown area by light rail to the main rail line that traverses the Puget Sound area. At the terminus of this link is the Tacoma Dome station. This station was constructed in Freighthouse Square, a commercial "mini-mall" that contains small shops and restaurants. Tres West Engineers provided design for the mechanical and electrical systems in this facility with construction costs totaling $12 million.
