Mr. Dohrer is a recent addition to Tres West Engineers. He brings with him over 44 years of experience in all aspects of construction design, inspection and project management.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mr. Dohrer has had extensive experience in the mechanical contracting industry both in Washington and Alaska. He has been responsible for estimating, purchasing, logistics, project management, corporate management and has performed these duties in the office and on the jobsite. He has constructed new and remodeled schools, remodeled hospitals, performed numerous military repair & maintenance facility projects including installation of a 450hp boiler at Ft. Lewis, as well as approximately five miles of steam-condenser and pumped hot water site utilities. He was responsible for the complete remodel of a Loran site at the End Of The World in Attu, Alaska and participated in a design build municipal garbage incineration plant at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Since joining this firm, he has proven himself indispensable to our mechanical engineering department, lending his expertise to various projects, providing systems design on specific projects and providing a varied and knowledgeable base for the QA/QC department at Tres West Engineers.


SELECT PROJECT EXPERIENCE
  • Stadium High School, Tacoma, WA

Mr. Dohrer was the cost estimator and Project Manager for the mechanical systems in the remodel of a 100 year old landmark structure. Mr. Dohrer oversaw the installation of the piping, plumbing and heating systems totaling $5.75 million in construction value.

  • Tacoma Community College New Science Building, Tacoma, WA

Mr. Dohrer was the mechanical systems construction manager for the new prototype building for TCC’s “rebirth.” This facility is a new four-story building with extensive laboratory and teaching facilities. The project had 41,000 linear feet of piping including such exotic systems as circulating salt water. The cost of the project was approximately $6 million and it was completed on time.

  • Foss High School, Tacoma, WA

Mr. Dohrer was the mechanical systems construction manager. This was a 2 to 3 year phased remodel of a 35 year old school. The original electrical systems were changed to new gas-fired boilers, including 2 each at 250hp and 2 each at 125hp and a complete four-pipe system throughout the building. There was an addition of 2 large chillers to give the facility 100% cooling. His involvement included the piping, plumbing, boilers, chillers and hot water tanks for two major additions, with that portion of the work being valued at $4 million. The students were phased through nine different classroom arrangements and the project was completed on time.
